#CITY OFF MOLINELLA
ONLY 3 KM FROM THE AIRFIELD THE TOWN OF MOLINELLA DESERVES TO BE VISITED, SOME, BUT NOT THE ONLY THINGS TO SEE ARE :
IL CAMPANILE PENDENTE

Less known than the famous Tower, but no less impressive is the Leaning Bell Tower of Molinella which flanks the ancient church of S. Matteo from the end of the 15th century. The construction of the bell tower, based on a project by Vincenzo Santini, began in 1727 but due to the precocious slope caused by subsidence of the land, the belfry was erected twenty years later and, for fears of instability, demolished in 1909.
TORRE DI SANTO STEFANO

In front of the Auditorium, in the center of Molinella, stands the Civic Tower of Santo Stefano.
Built in the 14th century, it was damaged by the troops of Bernabò Visconti in 1360 and practically razed to the ground by Alberto V d’Este, an ally of Galeazzo Visconti, in August 1390.
It was crenellated and only at the end of the seventeenth century was it provided with a four-pitched roof and a pyramid-shaped spire, to accommodate the bells of the adjacent church.
In ancient times it had been used as a prison, then the municipal archive was placed there.
After a careful restoration in 1982, since 1995 it has hosted exhibitions, events and theatrical and musical reviews.
IL PALAZZACCIO

Not really in Molinella but in the hamlet of “Selva Malvezzi” stands the Palazzaccio.
The Palazzaccio is one of the few surviving Renaissance fortresses in the Bolognese plain. The complex is fortified with a large tower flanked by an imposing low body. Some bulwarks rise from the corners. It was built by Matteo IV of the collateral branch of the Malvezzi Campeggi shortly after 1491 to defend the county on the road that leads to Bologna and Budrio. The fortress, however, remained unfinished but was restored in the mid-seventeenth century. Even before the dissolution of the fiefdom, it fell into neglect and was used by the peasants as a warehouse and partly as a home. Today it is in fact possible to see the buildings built later by the farmers, even leaning against the fortress. Several collapses followed, the last in 1985. Today the castle is in poor condition and, if no intervention is taken soon in a consolidation of the structure, only the memory may remain.
#PARCO REGIONALE DEL DELTA DEL PO
WERE IS LOCATED

What to do
On foot, by boat, by bicycle or on horseback: according to the different seasons there are many ways to experience this particular natural ecosystem in slow mode.
The numerous bird species have transformed the area into an area with a strong appeal for all birdwatching enthusiasts with specific itineraries, picnic areas and observation sites, as well as an international festival (Birdwatching Fair).
#ECOMUSEO DI ARGENTA
The Po Delta Regionele park is very large and complex.
To the south of the town of argenta are the valleys of argenta where the Ecomuseum of the same name is located inside.
In reality, the museums inside are 3 and they are:
MUSEO DELLE VALLI

The Museo delle Valli d’Argenta is the gateway to the Valleys, it is a naturalistic historical museum that describes the history, culture, traditions and nature of this area through images, objects and models.
FOR MORE INFO ON TIMETABLES AND COSTS CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW
MUSEO CIVICO

The Civic Museum of Argenta is located inside the church of San Domenico.
Today inside the Civic Museum it is possible to admire, in addition to the pictorial, sculptural and stone section, also the entire collection, divided into sections, of all the archaeological finds that have been found in the area adjacent to the Pieve di San Giorgio and in the numerous excavation tests carried out since the end of the 1980s in various areas of the city center.
The visitor is therefore faced with a wide range of sources, iconographic and materials, which keep alive the subtle link that connects Argenta to its past rich in history that seemed almost irretrievably lost.

MUSEO DELLA BONIFICA

The Reclamation Museum, located inside an active drainage plant, tells the visitor the millennial history of the relationship between man and water.
The reclamations have had a decisive impact on the geomorphological evolution and anthropic organization of the lower Po valley and have determined, in a concrete way, the political, social, cultural and environmental structure of the territory

The exploration of the Argenta Valleys is not limited to visiting the museums but there are excursions and much more to do, to find out more we recommend you go to their website.
